MIRI: twenty directors, managers and supervisors of Marriott and Renaissance hotels from Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Kota Bahru and Miri  attended the ‘7 Habits of Highly Effective People’ training here recently.

The three-day training, which is famous for its effectiveness in making positive personal change for people from all walks of life, was held recently at the Miri Marriott Resort & Spa.

It was conducted by Marriott Asia Pacific Area’s director of training Jackie Porter and Country director of human resources Malaysia Lynne Chee.

The training was dynamic where trainees were made to learn and understand the topics through group presentations and role plays.

They were given full flexibility to explore their creativity on topics given as the trainers believed that self-exploration activities will enhance the trainees’ understanding on their personal habits and from there, they can adopt and absorb the said 7 highly effective people’s habits into their daily life.

“The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People cannot be learned and used at a snap of a finger. it starts gradually from realising and knowing yourself, your desires, personality, habits and then your will and persistence to transform into a better person,” commented Jackie.

Over the three days, they were treated to different themed tea-breaks and also lunch.

The first day was centred around the theme ‘Sarawak Flavours’. Decorations and simple performance by Miri Marriott Resort & Spa associates in full Iban traditional costume were put up. the second and third day centred around the themes ‘Go Green’ and ‘Sports’ respectively. Both days saw very different decorations being put up but the food were based on a healthy concept – less oil, less meat, more fruits and vegetables as a natural boost for the trainees.
