Many people are attracted to the income potential that network marketing opportunities present and find themselves sucked into the dream. this dream is the often heard sales pitch of being your own boss, making your own hours and living the life you always dreamed of. so why is it that most people who pursue this dream fail? We are going to take a look at what you should expect with your first year in network marketing and how you can be one of the survivors that come out on top.

This is when you first officially sign up. People on this level are usually pumped full of adrenaline and are ready to take on the world. In their minds they think that they have found the perfect opportunity and are ready to sit back and collect checks for the rest of there life.

Don’t get too excited right away. You have to sit back and be realistic and say to yourself, I am going to have to do some work for this dream to become a reality. before you even start you should have a business plan, contact your sponsor and ask them for the best plan of action and set small goals for yourself that can easily be achieved. if your goals are too big from the start, you are going to get discouraged because you will not reach them in a realistic time frame.

The first month is usually what weeds out the serious team players from the opportunity seekers. After your first month, you should know if this is really for you and something you want to pursue. too many people in network marketing fail to see results in the first month and quit to try and find the better deal. In reality even if they find a better deal they will only wind up quitting again because they will repeat the same cycle of taking no action, seeing no results and getting discouraged and quitting once again.

First Year In Network Marketing Tip:

At this point if you have done your homework and have followed your business plan you should have a nice size organization that is bringing in nice residual income. The most important thing to do now is not get lazy. Many network marketers make the mistake of slowing down when there business gets big and expect it to run on autopilot. this is not true and you can never stop sponsoring. You must always sponsor new people because there are always going to be people that drop out, even heavy hitters, so you need to stay on top of your game.

You have probably heard that this business is just a numbers game. their is some truth to that but trust me you are better off with quality over quantity in this business. your first year in network marketing is about building relationships with your team members and downline and learning the ins and outs of the business. After your first year you should be an expert and ready to take on new things. it is very important to remember to have a positive attitude and realistic goal setting to get through your first year in network marketing. if you do this you will be way ahead of the 95% that fail.

Learning how to persuade and influence will make the difference between hoping for better income and having a better income. ask yourself, how much income and money have you lost with your inability to persuade and influence.

Now, I’m sure you have seen some success, but think of the times you couldn’t get it done. Has there ever been a time when you did not get your point across? You were unable to convince somebody to do something? have you reached your full potential? Are you able to motivate yourself and others to achieve more and accomplish their goals? What about your relationships? have you ever had a time when you couldn’t convince your boss or convince your coworkers? Face it, everyday, there are times you can’t get yourself to do the things you know you need to be doing. Self persuasion alone is priceless. Now this includes success mastery and personal motivation. The ability to get yourself to do the things you want to do, when you don’t feel like doing them. What skills or techniques are you lacking?

Everything you want in life, you need to persuade to get. Usually what society teaches us is not necessarily correct. They think force, or coercion, or rewarding people is the way to go. Many people are using what we call military management, which is short term compliance, but we want to talk about long term influence.

I have studied persuasion because I have been in the world of sales, I know what it is. I know what it is like to not have the right skills, because when I had my first job in persuasion, I didn’t get it done. I talked to a lot of people and made a lot of friends, but I couldn’t get them to take action. I soon realized that with everybody that I talked about and every job that I ever had, it’s all about persuasion, motivation, leadership and influence. Many times we are not getting the results, the revenue, or the respect from people around us. This is why persuasion and influence is a critical skill. as we study and research the ultra prosperous we find the common skill is the ability to persuade and influence.

This is the most important skill, but we find an interesting paradigm: it is the skill people work on last. as we pursue our wealth or want to work on real estate, set up a website, market a book, convince our children, motivate coworkers, start to grow a business, sell a product or service, what happens is we don’t see much success or we hit rock bottom and realize how much money has been lost, how many relationships have not been saved, how many people we could not convince to our point of view. then we study human psychology and persuasion. it is like buying a car without an engine. What is going to start your engine of success? You can learn all the tools in the world, get all the degrees offered at the local universalities, but until you can understand human nature, motivate others and energize and persuade people, you will be left behind.

Do You Know What Your Clients Really Want?

Do You Know What Your Clients Really Want?

Have you seen the movie what Women want with Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt? It’s really funny and well worth watching for another reason:

In the movie Mel Gibson, an arrogant and rather ignorant Advertising Executive, gets the gift of hearing women’s thoughts, unedited. And it’s not pretty what they think about him. The pay off of this gift is that he is able to present ideas to his female boss that she had thought about and he therefore just repeated from what he heard her thinking.

While that may come across as not very creative (and by no means do I endorse how he uses that to manipulate her) – it’s actually incredibly clever and effective. what if you could hear your clients and potential clients think? And then you offered them exactly what they wanted?

Until you and I acquire that skill, we will rely on things that they tell us. And on what we know of ourselves as clients.

Knowing what works in Marketing and Sales, and having used myself as a study object, I am taking you behind the scenes, into your clients’ head. Letting you read their mind for a moment: what are they thinking when they are wondering whether to hire you or not?

Here are five things that are really high up on your clients’ want list. just adapt them to your ‘tribe’ and think about this, isn’t this what you want as well?

I have slipped roles for a moment and am now speaking as your client’s voice. And I’m telling it like it is. So please listen so you can serve me even better.

1. I want you to ‘get’ me

How do I know that what you provide actually works? it can only work if you know what’s going on for me. So do you?

Have you been where I have been? or at least have you worked with people just like me? my biggest fear is to invest in false hope and then be bitterly disappointed. I’d rather not give it a go at all if I’m not sure.

2. I want you to be ‘real’

If I invest with you, I will need to be vulnerable about my shortcomings because that’s what you will be helping me to overcome. So I need to know that I can open up to you, that I will be emotionally safe.

I also need to know that you are not some kind of ueber-achiever because otherwise I don’t think I can recreate what you show me because I am only human.

3. I want you to be specific about what you do for ME

A lot of marketing out there just doesn’t speak to me, I can’t connect with it, its just generic words. The trouble for me is, I know what my problem is but I don’t know what the solution is. That’s where I need your help. my biggest challenge is to work out whether the solution you offer actually works for my problem. That’s why, the better you describe the problems you solve the easier for me to decide.

4. I want a good deal

I love a deal. Money is precious and it’s never easy to part with it. But if you want me to make a quick decision, just give me a really good deal. It’s easier for me to justify buying from you that way. You know when I want to, it just tips the balance, gives me the extra little nudge I need.

5. I want to feel cared for

I am special. And I want to be treated as special rather than just being one of your many clients. once I know you are the real deal I am happy to invest a bit extra to get the special treatment I deserve.

Well, what do you think? Does this ring true for you?

Emily Spivey Knows About Being ‘Up All Night’

Emily Spivey Knows About Being Up All Night

When babies crop up on sitcoms, they hardly ever act like real babies. They’re more like pets that cause problems only when it’s convenient for the story line. Otherwise they stare placidly at the camera and sleep through the night. But on the new show Up All Night, a baby turns the lives of a mid-30s couple (played by Christina Applegate and Will Arnett) upside down. their extended adolescence comes to an abrupt halt when they have to balance work and a baby. Maya Rudolph rounds out the cast as Applegate’s child-free, talk show host boss.

Balancing work and family is a struggle writer Emily Spivey is very familiar with. The former Saturday Night Live scribe based Up All Night on her own experience returning to work after the birth of her now 2-year-old son. This is her first time running a show. Up All Night debuts September 14th. I talked to Spivey about babies, work, and trying to make it all fit together.

FORBES: what made you decide to do a show about the real struggles of parenting?

EMILY SPIVEY:I based it on my experience having my son two years ago and having to go back to work at Saturday Night Live. There was a huge gap between the sort of rock and roll job I had where I was up all night and my son who was getting up at six in the morning. I wanted to capture those extremes and do a show about someone who waited such a long time to have a baby. her career was her baby. I felt like no one had really honestly told that story.

Was it a hard sell?

No, I think NBC was looking for a modern mom show. they were supportive and excited about it from the beginning because it was an area they wanted to tackle.

This is very different portrayal of life with a baby than we’ve seen in previous sitcoms.

I wanted to do a show where the parents acknowledge that having a baby is wonderful but it also kind of sucks and it’s kind of hard. There’s a lot of bad that comes with all of the good and there’s a lot of comedy to be mined from showing a couple that’s had an extended adolescence and then decided to have a baby.

How do you balance work and family?

Luckily, I have the best husband in the world so that helps. I’ve had to let myself off the hook a little and know that you can’t be perfect. you can only do the best you can and set a good example for your kid. My son isn’t going to hate me because I work some late hours. I had to quit feeling guilty. This is what I do and I love him so much and he knows that. It’s still hard. every day is a new struggle and I don’t know if I’ve officially tackled it.

You were able to get some great actors for the show.

We were really excited when Christina became interested because she was being courted by a lot of different shows so it was a huge compliment to us. I went and sat with her and we realized she was going through exactly what the show was about. She had just had her daughter and she was experiencing going back to work for the first time.  we started talking back and forth and it was a story she was interested in telling. Maya, I’ve known her for like 2000 years. We’d been wanting to work together. I’d also known Will and [his wife Amy Poehler] so it was like a family.
